By entering into this agreement, members agree that:

1. The information submitted are genuine and accurate. You must not misrepresent your identity or status and must not use any other registration details other than your own. You must ensure that you inform us of any changes to your registered information by email us at hugoadmin@gis.a-star.edu.sg or update yourselves, so that your registered information is correct and up-to-date.

2. All applications will be forwarded to the HUGO International Membership Review Committee for approval.

3. Only paid HUGO members are allowed to nominate candidates for HUGO Council election.

4. Only paid HUGO members are allowed to vote at the HUGO Council election.

5. Members should keep their user IDs and passwords confidential for accessing the HUGO member's only area at all times and must not disclose it to anyone else or permit anyone else to use it. Any breach of any of these terms by anyone to whom you disclose the password will be treated as if the breach had been committed by you, and will not relieve you of your obligations under these terms and conditions.

6. In the event of any failure or error in the operation of a password, you shall cease using the password and exit the Site(s) immediately, and notify HUGO at hugoadmin@gis.a-star.edu.sg of such failure or error. HUGO reserves the right to change, or to require you to change, your password any time in its sole discretion.

7. HUGO reserves the right to disable any password, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our opinion, you have failed to comply with any of these terms.

8. In uploading or posting any information to the Site(s), such information will be considered non-confidential and non-proprietary and will be viewed by all HUGO members or HUGO warranted third parties. HUGO has the right to use, copy, distribute and disclose such information to third parties for any purposes deemed appropriate and decent.

9. HUGO may monitor your use of the Site(s) including any information you post so as to generally improve the Site(s) and the Services and to retain records to be used in the event of complaints or customer service issues. However, HUGO accepts no obligation to monitor the use of the Site(s).

10. HUGO stores and processes data strictly in accordance with the Privacy Policy set out in the HUGO website. By using the Site(s), you consent to such processing and you warrant that all data provided by you is accurate.

11. Members' contact details might be distributed electronically in the form of a membership list and a membership directory will be posted online in the member's only area in this website to other members. However this information will not be given to outside sources, other than for very specific and relevant purposes.

12. HUGO reserves the right to amend the membership benefits any point in time deemed suitable.

13. All payments made through the online payment facility (PayPal) must be made in Pounds Sterling (£). Any currency conversion costs or other charges incurred in making the payment or in processing a refund shall be borne by the member or the third party making payment, and shall not be deductible from the membership fees due to HUGO.

14. Once a payment has been verified and received by the Service Provider, the payment may not be cancelled. In certain circumstances the member, or the third party making payment, may be entitled to a refund on a case to case basis. In the event that any payment of membership fees is to be refunded (either fully or in part), HUGO will endeavour to make the refund by cheque in Pounds Sterling (£) to the member or third party making payment.

15. All payment details which are entered through the Paypal payment gateway are encrypted when the member, or third party making payment, enters them. Communications to and from the Service Provider's site are encrypted.

16. HUGO shall not be liable for any failure by the member or third party making payment of membership fees to properly protect data from being seen on their screen by other persons or otherwise obtained by such other persons, during the online payment process or in respect of any omission to provide accurate information in the course of the online payment process.

17. Online payments of membership fees can be made by credit or debit card. These payments are not collected by HUGO directly but by the Service Provider. On accepting these terms and conditions the member, or third party making payment, will be redirected to a website which is maintained and administered by the Service Provider (PayPal).

18. The member, or third party making payment, will then be asked to submit appropriate personal and financial information to the Service Provider (PayPal) so that the online payment process can be offered. Member or third party making payment, accepts and consents to their Personal Data being provided to the Service Provider (PayPal) for sole purpose of the Service Provider (PayPal) offering and administering the online payment facility to the member, or third party making payment.

19. Where membership fees are being paid in full, payment can be made either by credit or debit card via the website maintained and administered by the Service Provider (PayPal)

20. Once payment is received by the Service Provider (PayPal) in cleared funds, a receipt will be emailed to members with their user ID and password.

21. Use of HUGO Discussion Forum(s) and Wikipedia carries legal risks. Messages which include offensive, untrue or illegal content, or even expressions of opinion about others, can lead to claims against you and possible criminal offences.

22. Only HUGO Members may use the HUGO Discussion Forums, and only for legal, personal and non-commercial use and in accordance with these terms of use. They should only post messages in the HUGO Discussion Forums that they would be comfortable including in a written letter to every HUGO member and every other person who may see a copy. They agree to indemnify HUGO in full for any loss it suffers as a result of any breach of these terms of use by them or with their authority. If, having accessed the HUGO Discussion Forums, they see a posting that breaches these terms of use, please contact HUGO at hugoadmin@gis.a-star.edu.sg providing a link to the posting in question where possible, and HUGO will investigate the matter.

23. They may not remove or change anything on the HUGO Discussion Forums. They must not use the HUGO Discussion Forums to post advertisements or offers to sell goods or services; or collect and process others' personal data.

24. For any enquiries or complaints about the use of the HUGO Discussion Forum please contact HUGO at hugoadmin@gis.a-star.edu.sg.

25. HUGO reserves the right to amend any of these terms and conditions from time to time at its discretion without prior notice.

26. HUGO will also in its absolute discretion fully co-operate with law enforcement and other relevant authorities and may disclose any information as required by law and/or relating to any investigation of suspected unlawful activity, intellectual property right infringements or violation of network security.

27. These terms of use shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with Singapore law, and you consent to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
