Objectives
- To promote and strengthen genetic counselling education and training globally by supporting the development of accessible, evidence-based and culturally appropriate educational resources and programmes for genetic counsellors, healthcare professionals, students and trainees, particularly in countries with limited access to genetic counselling services.
- To facilitate international collaboration and capacity building in genetic counselling education through the sharing of curricula, teaching resources, best practices, educational expertise and training opportunities, including webinars, workshops, mentorship programmes and other continuing professional development activities.
Main activities
A range of educational and training activities and initiatives undertaken by genetic counsellors, for genetic counsellors or for other healthcare professionals. These include:
- Advances in Genetics and Genomics Webinar Series for non-genetics health professionals.
- Developing and updating core curriculum guidelines for Genetic Counselling training, worldwide.
- Organising and running genetic counselling workshops at Human Genome Meetings.
